Fayette County Reservoir was impounded in 1978 and is managed by the Lower Colorado River Authority; its power-plant function keeps water temperatures elevated, with slightly to moderately stained water and limited aquatic vegetation. The reservoir is especially noted for largemouth bass fishing, with catfish and redear sunfish also present. Public recreation is centered at Park Prairie Park and Oak Thicket Park, where boating, fishing, camping, and shoreline access are available.
